The Tigers finalized a one-year, $2 million contract with catcher Wilson Ramos on Friday.

Ramos played 45 games last season with the New York Mets, hitting .239 with five home runs and 15 RBIs. He was an All-Star in 2016 for the Washington Nationals and in 2018 with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Eddie Rosario has gone from hammering to helping the Indians.

The free-agent outfielder, who spent the past six seasons with the Minnesota Twins, agreed Friday to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Cleveland Indians, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

Free-agent first baseman Daniel Murphy is retiring from the sport, he announced Friday.

The deal would approach, but not surpass, the $36 million average value of Gerrit Cole's deal with the New York Yankees.

The Baltimore Orioles have added Freddy Galvis on a one-year, $1.5 million deal.

Galvis, 31, hit .220 with seven homers and 16 RBIs during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

He is expected to take over as Baltimore's shortstop from Jose Iglesias, who was traded to the Los Angeles Angels in December.

The Minnesota Twins have agreed to terms on a one-year, $10.5 million deal with Andrelton Simmons, according to sources.

Since his first full season in 2013, Simmons leads all of baseball with 172 defensive runs saved. 

The 31-year-old will be the Twins' starting shortstop, with Jorge Polanco moving to second base and Luis Arraez still expected to get plenty of at-bats in a super-utility role.

Second baseman Tommy La Stella and the San Francisco Giants are finalizing a contract, sources familiar with the deal told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The deal is expected to be for three years.
